The Sage Book Whisperer is BAAAAAAAAAAACK!
Indeed, it has been a while, but it doesn't mean I've not been reading. My goodness I've covered a lot of ground. I learned that I love the Murder Mystery genre of works in the Universe. Be that as it may in showing favor to that genre because normally, I'm all over the place. I was a curious kid and read at lot on different subject matters then and now. AND that my friend is the reason I'm good at playing JEOPARDY on tv. I've been watching that show since the original daytime version debuted on NBC March 30,1964. I was 15 years old.
There's been so many things to distract one's well-being since I last posted. For the most part living on this farm with our animals and beautiful surroundings is a privilege many don't experience daily. We are thankful to be Keepers of this Land. My husband and I are frugal people, grow some of our food, live a simple non-frivolous, not trying to keep up with the Jones type of life. We're both retired so we don't have to fight traffic anymore. I love train travel of which I'm past due for a trip. On the other hand, he's a Texas homebody. Our small town of 7180 or so is a quiet community south of the DFW area.
There's plenty of things to keep one busy with hobbies or just community affairs. But of course, my main hobbies are reading, movies and cooking. I like reading a book and then watching the movie to see how close it matches the original storyline. My husband has taken up learning to play the guitar. Guitars have become his obsession_ sooooo over the last 6 months he's purchased 6 new ones while he's still learning. 😒😟 I can't complain though because I have so many books & will continue to buy new ones. 😊
The thing that bothers me is how America has changed in a few short years in the Political arena. I grew into womanhood during the 60's & 70's when many fought for their rights on so many levels. Though I dare say, there was still a level of knowing RIGHT from WRONG. There was a sense of the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles regardless of your upbringings. That has all gone out of the door Worldwide for the most part. I am disgusted the way POLITICS, social media, LYING, outright CHEATING, name calling, using people to get what you want, Wars based on video games, abuse of young children especially young girls, blaming others, etc....dominate our very being EVERY HOUR of the day. CHAOS in every corner of the WORLD! Have we Americans forgotten the meaning of integrity? We all need to check ourselves.
A wake-up call for us all...
But for my books, movies, cooking experiments and living in a small town on a farm, I'd be insane.
Since my last post on 2-2024, I've read 125 books_80 in 2024 +45 in 2025. I'm on book number 12 so far this year with lots of book options to read lined up.
